A BETTER BRIEF
Planning your junk removal project
List what is being removed
Describe items (furniture, appliances, construction debris, yard waste, electronics) and approximate volume in cubic yards or truckloads. Note weight-sensitive items like concrete or soil. Separate hazardous materials (paint, chemicals, batteries) which need special handling.
Confirm access and disposal
Ask whether the crew brings the truck to the curb or into the property, and what disposal fees are included. Request that the quote state what happens with items of value you may want to keep.
Compare total cost
Volume, weight, disposal fees and labour all affect the total. A low headline price that excludes disposal or heavy items is not comparable to one that includes them.
Jobs to describe in your request
- Household junk removal
- Construction debris removal
- Appliance removal
- Yard waste removal
- Estate cleanouts
What changes the cost?
Use these factors to compare the scope of proposals. A total price alone does not show whether the same work is included.
- Volume and weight
- Item types
- Access for the truck
- Disposal fees
- Distance to disposal site
Ask for a written description of included work, exclusions, payment stages and how additional work is authorized. Confirm who supplies materials and what documentation or warranty terms you receive at completion.
