A BETTER BRIEF
Planning your flooring project
Describe the rooms and existing surface
List the rooms, approximate area, existing floor and desired material. Mention stairs, uneven areas, visible moisture or transitions to rooms that will remain unchanged. Ask who will measure and verify quantities before materials are ordered.
Compare preparation separately
Confirm removal and disposal, subfloor assessment, leveling or repairs, and any moisture assessment needed for the chosen product. Ask which underlay or installation method is proposed and why it suits the space. Keep unexpected preparation work subject to your written approval.
Plan the finishing details
Include trim, thresholds, door clearance, stair edges and furniture moving in the scope. Ask who supplies material, how spare material is handled, and what cleaning and care instructions apply. Compare product warranty terms separately from the installer’s workmanship coverage.

- Removal and disposal
- Trim and stair details
Ask for a written description of included work, exclusions, payment stages and how additional work is authorized. Confirm who supplies materials and what documentation or warranty terms you receive at completion.
