EVIDENCE AND ITS LIMITS

What CityVerified’s business evidence means

A sourced profile helps you evaluate a business. It does not certify workmanship, current insurance, regulatory authorization or live availability. Check the evidence for the specific fact that matters to your project.

Methodology reviewed .

Facts, business claims and unknowns

A business website can support what the business says it offers. That is attributable evidence of a claim, not independent confirmation that it performs every job type or can attend today. A regulator’s record can support a specific registration when the entity and current status match. Missing evidence stays unknown. Do not treat a company name, logo or marketing phrase as proof of insurance or a trade credential.

Sources and provenance

Profiles expose available source links and recorded claim information. Follow those links to examine the origin and scope of a fact. Sources can include business websites and public records; their authority depends on the fact in question. Two pages repeating the same claim are not necessarily two independent confirmations. Information can change after collection.

Source confidence is not a customer rating

The displayed source-confidence score describes recorded evidence and freshness. It is not a review average, quality guarantee, complaint clearance or comparison of workmanship. A high score does not establish that every credential is current. CityVerified does not create customer reviews or ratings to fill missing fields.

Check dates and expiry dates answer different questions

A recorded profile check date does not mean every fact received an independent check on that date. A source observation timestamp describes when that source was recorded. Neither substitutes for an insurance policy expiry date or a regulator’s current status. Where a date is missing or unusable, the evidence summary says so. CityVerified does not promise a universal weekly re-verification schedule.

Claiming a profile does not verify its contents

Claim status concerns a relationship to the profile. It does not turn provider statements into independently evidenced facts. Payment for an introduction does not establish a credential or improve the underlying evidence. Confirm the legal or operating name against the relevant document or registry before relying on a regulated-work claim.

Why a provider appears on a service page

Current service-location pages require at least three businesses with structured service and geography relationships. These records support discovery, not a census of every local contractor. Confirm your address, exact project type, schedule and price with the provider. A displayed service area does not mean the business has an office in every listed city.

Conflicting or incorrect information

If sources disagree, do not resolve the conflict by assuming the more favourable claim is true. Check the source date and the business identity, then ask the business or relevant authority for clarification. To request a correction, contact CityVerified through the site’s support link with the profile URL, the specific disputed fact and a public supporting source. Do not send private identity or financial documents through a general enquiry.

Requests, introductions and the next step

CityVerified records service requests and may share details with relevant independent providers with consent. Providers may pay for introductions. A request does not confirm a match, dispatch or booking, and CityVerified does not perform the trade service. Ask the provider about the written scope, qualifications applicable to the job, insurance, approvals and payment terms before authorizing work.
